I've inherited several hundred first day covers. Does anyone have any
idea about how to get them professionally valued in London? Do I go to
a general auction house or a specialist? Any recommendations? Do I
just walk in off the street or ring them first? Once I have a good
idea about how much they are worth I am hoping to sell at least half
as bulk to a collector or dealer....again, any ideas as to how to go
about this? How do I contact dealers or where should I advertise? NB:
They are all perfect condition aircraft-related First Day Covers, eg
Concorde, so quite specialist. Many thanks for your help &
suggestions.

If they are all "modern", ie, say, 1960s onwards, and all are the
"previewed" issues on special covers, rather than, for instance, the
se-tenant plate from the "Stamps for Cooks" booklet, then I'm afraid
that they have virtually no intrinsic value.

In London, amongst others, you could call in at Simon Andrews shop in
Cecil Court, between Charing Cross Road and St Martin's Lane, or at
Ross-Shiells at 4 Eldon Street, London EC2M 7LS, for a professional
view.
